CUBA / Havana /1950 Renault 4-CV
A 1950 Renault 4-CV parked in a garage in Centro Habana.
The 4-CV first appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 1947. The four-door sedan featured
front suicide doors and was powered by a 760 cc rear-mounted four-cylinder engine.
Originally nicknamed “La motte de beurre” (the lump of butter); because of its shape
and the fact that early models were sand-yellow in colour as a result of using German
Army surplus paint belonging to Rommel’s Afrika Korps. It was the first French car to
have sales of more than one million.Production of the 4-CV was discontinued in 1961.
